Skills Development & Experimentation

Yoni Alter Style Image

For this image I had to use Photoshop to create an image using London attractions but had to relate it to Yoni Alter, who's art was based upon city attractions but using this style of art and Photoshop skills to create this.

I firstly had to find a few images from google of London and then import each image into Photoshop, after that I then had to use the quick selection tool and select each part of the image that I wanted to crop and cut from the original image and get rid of anything either in the foreground or background that I didn't want. I then had to create a layer after selecting each part of the image and located my cursor to the edit tab on the top left of Photoshop. I then selected 'Fill' and then changed the colour and opacity of the image, the reason I had to create a new layer was because if I did all the steps I just listed, the edit would of had the original image attached to the image displayed below and it wouldn't look presentable and unprofessional. I had only one problem when it came to this project, that only problem was figuring out how to do create the colour effect. I overcame this problem by asking another student for help and how to remove the image being attached to the colour cut. I would remake it and attempt to remove the building until told that there was an easier way to do it but apart from that one problem, I enjoyed doing this as it was a new way of doing art and showing famous buildings around London.

Leaflet Experiment InDesign

For this I created a leaflet on InDesign and had to experiment with it to give me an idea of what I want for the final leaflet or poster. I first had to create and customise and A4 sized paper, and change the width to 99 mm and the height to 200 mm and it created one section of the leaflet. I then had to add another 2 pages over at the pages section and click 3 small lines that direct me to more options and there was an 'insert page' tab, to which I then added 2 more images, and then duplicated the pages so I creates the front and the back of the leaflet. Then from there, I added an image over the entire of the back part of the leaflet and started experimenting with different texts sizes, positions and colours to see which ones look the most appealing and readable.

Animate InDesign

For this I had to make an animated GIF about London and I create a GIF of the queen with a larger head jumping over Buckingham palace. I did this by using Adobe InDesign and firstly had to add a background image of Buckingham palace, which required me to find an image of google and import it into InDesign. I then had to add a few keyframes, I added 1-18 keyframes as I didn't want it to be a long GIF. After I added the keyframes I then made an image of the queen on Photoshop to which I then made her head big and added it onto a normal sized body. Back on InDesign I then had to select all my frames and add a 'Motion Tween' onto the layers by going to the 'insert' tab and select it, I then had to move the queen in each frame to move its position and after I was done, I saved the frames and deleted any extra frames that were unused. I then exported it as a GIF. I enjoyed making this as I made a GIF in my old unit and wasn't that experienced with InDesign, but this time I had no troubles with it and managed to complete it all within the first lesson of us doing this part of the unit.
